Torture Porn Lecture.

What Is Torture Porn?

It is said a lot by people when they see a horror movie that they don’t like. Like someone sees a movie like Saw 7 and they didn’t like it so they call it torture porn. To be a true torture porn film it must have the following elements:

#1: Extreme Violence: what differentiates true graphic violence from lesser forms of violence in media productions, including “cartoon” violence and “fantasy” violence.

#2: Nudity: The state of wearing no clothing.

#3: Torture: Any act by which severe pain or suffering, whether physical or mental, is intentionally inflicted on a person.

#4: Mutilation: an act of physical injury that degrades the appearance or function of any living body, usually without causing death.

AND

#5: Sadism: the receiving of pleasure—often sexual—from acts involving the infliction of pain.

So, if the movie doesn’t have these elements, which Saw has a few, but is missing some too, then quit calling them torture porn, please. By the way, I am not writing this to stand up for torture porn, just writing it so that I don’t have to hear and think about torture porn every time someone doesn’t like a horror movie. Kay?
